About 3 months ago my brother's world was turned upside down. After being very sick for a few weeks with zero answers, Jim was diagnosed with leukemia - Adult Lymphoblastic Leukemia Philadelphia Chromosome Positive (Ph+) to be exact. Yup, just when you think it couldn't get worse...what that Ph+ part does is make him resistant to chemo. Perfect...just perfect, right?
Needless to say, this has definitely been a life changing event. He's completed 4 rounds of chemo...when he's not admitted, he's at Johns Hopkins 5 or so days a week. He's approaching transplant time & has been entered into a study since we haven't found a full match (yet!!).
With all this, he's had to move in with family, he cannot work, he's had to rely on others to take care of him (for those of you who know him - that is NOT easy). Our Dad has gone up to Maryland indefinitely to be there every second, which has truly been a blessing.
All this - medical bills, living expenses in MD & FL, transportation, medications, travel from MD to FL & back, on top of the main focus...fighting for his life is overwhelming.
Whatever donation you can make is greatly appreciated! Our goal is to take all the extra worry off of his plate so he can focus on battling this disease, prepping for transplant, & healing!
