Jim LaRosa Medical Expenses & Memorial Fund
Why are we raising funds?
On January 1, 2021, our dear friend James Mikolajczak-LaRosa died of COVID-19 at the young age of 44 (11/2/1976). This GoFundMe page was built to raise funds to support Jim's family during this difficult time.
How will the funds be used?
Funds will be used to help Jim's family pay for his medical expenses and funeral costs. Any additional funds that are received will be used to create a scholarship for nursing students at Carroll College, where Jim was a beloved Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing.
About Jim
Jim (pictured in top-center) is mourned by many, but he is most especially missed by his husband (Brad LaRosa, pictured in bottom-center ) and 2 sons (Jonny pictured on left and Joey pictured on right). They are devastated by this loss, but are all extremely proud of Jim's legacy. He was a caring father, loving husband, thoughtful friend, wonderful colleague and teacher. Many fondly remember him for just being an all-around hilarious person. He was the person in the room who was welcoming others, making them laugh, and was a joy to be around.
Jim's Legacy
In 2018 Jim earned his Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Chamberlain University College of Nursing, where he also earned his MSN and BSN. He dedicated his life to nursing excellence and teaching others how to be compassionate and effective nurses.
During his short life of 44 years, Jim was an incredible partner to Brad. His sons remember him for being so proud of them, supporting them, and always being there to listen to them. He inspired them to work hard and be kind to others, and they are both incredible young men. Your donation will help support the Mikolajczak-LaRosa family escape crippling medical expenses and spend their emotional energy mourning his loss and celebrating his life. We hope to use any additional funds to establish a scholarship for nursing students at Carroll College.
