Jim and Barb Peterson Disaster Fund

On Tuesday, August 28th, our parents, Jim (Fox) and Barb Peterson were faced with a devastating circumstance when during a severe storm, their foundation of their home caved in. This left a huge hole in their finished basement exposed to the outside and in a matter of minutes their whole basement was filled with water and mud from their back yard. The wall that crashed in wiped out their furnace, hot water heater, sump pump and gas line and left them with missing pipes, no gas, hot water or Air conditioning.
The following morning they were faced with severe weather once again and with heavy rains and an open hole in their house, water and mud came pouring in again as we all scrambled to save anything we could, but unfortunately most everything was a complete loss. Furniture, pictures, appliances and memories may be destroyed but we are happy Jim and Barb are safe!
They are now left with what was once a beautiful newly finished part of their home to bare bones, cement floors and walls ripped off down to the studs. This exposed the rest of their foundation which they are in the process of determining if it is stable. They worked with an engineer and many generous volunteers to rebuild the foundation as quickly as possible to cover the hole before we were struck with more severe weather and rain the past few days.
Now is the rebuilding process which has left them with an incredible financial burden. Jim and Barb were a year from retiring and everything they have saved is slowly dwindling away. Unfortunately none of this was covered by insurance and there is no current emergency funding available from the state or county they live. We are hoping to help our parents relieve some of this financial burden to get them back into a home that is safe.

A dear friend has also set up a local fund at The Bank of Wisconsin Dells under the JIM AND BARB PETERSON FUND for anyone wanting to donate there.
