Help Homeschool Mom Race DownUnder!

Donation protected
July 19, 2018 Update:  Thank you to all you who have generously donated to help me get to Australia!!!  Through you and other creative means (like our garage sale:)), God has been meeting the need of each expense.  I have about $1,000 more to raise in order to break even.   I changed the profile picture...here I am at a local triathlon breaking in my Team USA uniform (which you amazing donors helped me purchase!)  See  the 2 Updates at the tab above in order to see more pictures of local races...

Background:
I raced my first triathlon in 2009 and have enjoyed the one-race-a-summer hobby most summers since then.  Last summer, I happened to be in a local race that was a qualifying race.  I placed 25th out of 55 in my age group.  The top 6 qualified, so qualifying wasn't even on my radar...I was just thrilled with my personal best time.   Fast forward five months and I got an email from USA Triathlon noting that enough women, who had placed ahead of me, turned down the spot, and therefore I was eligible for a "roll- down spot" to represent Team USA at the 2018 Sprint Triathlon World Championship in Australia, September 12-16!!!   (Note: Sprint means "short," i.e. NOT Ironman! :))

What an exciting opportunity for this Stay-At-Home Homeschool Mama of four young kids!  Rob and I determined it will be a sacrifice of time, money, and finding childcare (for training sessions and while Rob's at work during my time in Australia), but we believe this unique opportunity is a gift from God and want to embrace it!  Through processing the possibility of going, people have been unanimously excited for me.  Some have offered childcare and some even suggested fundraising.

Since this adventure came up unexpectedly, it wasn't something that we had budgeted for and we thought that we would give other friends and family the chance to show their excitement and support for me through "GoFundMe."

Your GoFundMe donation will help me offset these estimated expenses:

Race Registration: ~ $350
Race Suit and Team USA Uniform: ~ $350
Passport/Visa: ~$150
Flight: ~ $1800
Bike Transportation: ~ $150
Lodging & Team Services: ~$1000
Food: ~$200

My current "Hobby Account Money" is allotted to cover bike maintenance and gear as well as the local race registration that will help me continue honing my training skills to prepare me for the Australia race.

I am completely humbled by this opportunity.  I truly consider myself only an amateur hobbyist.  I know there are plenty of more "worthy causes" to give to, so no pressure to donate, but if you would like to support me in this "Homeschool Mama Adventure," I will be so grateful for any and all donations.  $10, $20, $50, $100, $500, $1000;)...it all adds up!

Thank you for considering and being excited with me through your virtual cheers and/or donations!!
