The Jillian Murphy Memorial & JJEM Project Fund

Donation protected

Most parents don’t plan or expect to bury their child. When it happens, it is shocking and unexpected. It’s frightening and scary.  We typically don’t save for our child’s funeral. We don’t preplan it. But that is what the Murphy family are now having to deal with.

At just 23 years young, Jillian Murphy passed away on October 13th, as the result of bad decisions and her "friends'" decision to not to call 911, due to freaking out and fear of punishment by law enforcement because they were under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Doctors told her parents that if her friends had called 911, Jillian would likely still be with us, awake and possibly ok. Instead, she is brain dead due to too long without oxygen.

She will live on through her organ donation and through a foundation her parents are creating called JJEM Foundation (pronounced “gem”). Honoring her by educating people on Good Samaritan laws, advocating for adaption of these laws on the federal level, and assisting with getting people the rehabilitation needed to prevent this tragedy from happening again. The foundation will operate under the 501c3 for the Vita Nova Agency, which helps adults in addiction recovery.

Jillian was an amazing light and touched so many lives.  Since her death, so many have reached out in love, sending pictures, creating videos, sharing voicemails, and more. Jillian’s life long dream was to travel, so her parents are wanting to see that dream come true, even though it will be her ashes, instead of their bright, hopeful, loving little girl.

Her parents are devastated and, like most, are struggling with just the costs of her medical care. Your donation will help cover the copays, memorial, creating the foundation and with helping her ultimate dream come true, for her ashes to travel to the places she had dreamed of forever.

Any funds left over will be donated to the Vita Nova Agency, a non profit that offers job placement and life skills coaching to adults in addiction recovery.  www.vitanovaagency.org
