Helping Kim while she heals

Donation protected
In April of 2009, Kim was in a 4-wheeling accident.

A dune buggy jumped the sand dune without a spotter and Kim was on the other side and was hit.  Kim was catapulted 70 feet down the dune.

Her helmet saved her life, but the force of it cracked the helmet and ripped it from her face.  She was life flighted from Oklahoma to a trauma hospital in Wichita.  She had a dislocated left hip with multiple hip fractures, numerous back fractures, and all the ligaments in her right knee were torn. The impact broke her sacrum, tailbone, sternum, multiple ribs, caused a punctured lung and liver and spleen lacerations and a concussion.  She has had 2 knee surgeries and 2 hip surgeries.

Unfortunately, 9 years later the trauma continues to take a toll on this young mom.

Kim is my niece. She's been brave and went through a lot of pain and recovery, and she's also had to deal with devastating medical expenses. Though the accident wasn't her fault, insurance didn't come through.

Kim (who is only 31) is facing two surgeries - a hip and back surgery -- as a result of the accident from so long ago.

In 2014, she had a hip labrum repair. That repair has since failed, and the labrum has degenerated so much that there is not enough tissue to do another repair.  Kim will undergo a first surgery of a hip reconstruction,  using a donor ligament to recreate a new labrum. This is an experimental surgery and therefore she is required to pay out of pocket.

The recovery time is nine months to a year.

She will be non-weight bearing at all for 4-5 weeks. She cannot bend over, or move in certain positions because this area of the hip gets little to no blood flow and the repair is delicate. She has two little girls, one less than a year old, and it's hard to figure out how to find care for them during healing time.

When this surgery is completed and Kim is healed, they'll schedule a back surgery to correct the SI Joint issue -- also from the wreck. She'll be in physical therapy for months with the combined surgeries.

Will you consider helping Kim heal?

She is a vibrant, beautiful young mom and wife who loves the Lord with all her heart.

100% of the funds raised will go toward the cost of the surgeries and physical therapy, and hopefully toward an extra set of hands to help with her girls while she heals, and her husband is away at work.
