Help Josh Kick Cancer's Ass!
I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on August 25th, 2017. Fortunately, it seems it was caught relatively early, as 1 week later it was discovered that the cancer has not spread, nor does it appear there is any lymph node involvement. My prognosis appears good.
However, I'm not out of the woods yet. I will very likely have to undergo at least 1 round of chemotherapy, to shrink the tumor, followed by surgery to remove the tumor from my gastroesophageal junction.
As it turns out, I'm badly underinsured. Under Medicare, I will be financially responsible for ~20% of all expenses. I'm working on fixing this by obtaining supplemental insurance, but it seems likely that it may not go into effect until 2018. Treatment for cancer is expensive, and 20% of a lot is still quite a bit. So I've set this campaign up to help off-set some of my expected out-of-pocket expenses.
