We need your help and generosity!
We have four amazing unique works which have been exclusively offered to Kirkcudbright Galleries , but we have to raise the funds before 25th November or they will go elsewhere!
Help us raise funds to buy these beautiful Jessie Marion King works for the permanent collection at Kirkcudbright Galleries.
The works are Whin Blossom
, The Wild Rose
, The Cloak of Friendship
and Heritage of Heroic Example
(pictured) For more images see our facebook page
. All these works have been in the Barr family for at least 100 years and represent stunning examples of Jessie M Kings Art Nouveau style work. The Heritage of Heroic Example
is likely a memorial piece painted for John (Jack) Young Barr who died at Ypres in 1915.
In total the works will cost £40,000. We have already managed to raise £27,000 from the Art Fund and the National Fund for Acquisitions and £4000 from the Friends of Kirkcudbright Galleries, but that will leave us £9,000 short of our goal. Can you help?
Once purchased the works will remain in the Kirkcudbright Artists’ collection in Kirkcudbright on display in the ground floor gallery (free entry) and will be used to educate future generations about Jessie M King and her works.
Kirkcudbright Galleries is a free public gallery celebrating the beautiful Artists' Town of Kirkcudbright
in South West Scotland. It holds a Nationally Recognised Collection of artworks collected over 100 years and displays permanent and temporary exhibitions of art, craft and design for all ages to enjoy.
Any size donation will help us along on our journey in purchasing these fabulous works for the Kirkcudbright Galleries Collection.
