Butters is a dog that Philly Bully Team rescued in October 2020. Butters was surrendered by his owners who had nothing but amazing things to say about this dog. Unfortunately, they were moving, their life changed and they were unable to take him with him. They were heartbroken that they would have to surrender their family dog to a rescue. After reading the email from Butters owners and seeing how clearly this dog was loved and how amazing he was— we decided to take him into the care of our rescue. We placed him in a foster home in New Jersey with a cat, two small children and two adults. He did great the children loved him they played doctor with him, they played with his toys with him, they would sleep on him, they would lay on him while watching TV and although the cat was pretty scared of him butters never showed aggression towards him. Things were going great until one day a family member accidentally left the front door open too long and butters ran out the front door. Butters ran in to a woman who was walking two dogs and had a scuffle with the two dogs. The owner of the dogs attempted to break the scuffle up and got bit on her thumb in the process. We do not know who but, however, according to neighbors the two other dogs have a history of aggression in their neighborhood— where as Butters has zero history of human or animal aggression. We as a Rescue offered to pay the medical bills as one of the dogs ended up with a small scratch under his eye. However this was not good enough for the family and they have chosen to pursue legal action against the rescue and butters. This terrifies us as we don’t know what this could mean for Butters future. Our job is to advocate for animals and we will advocate for Butters. We want to make sure that he gets the best legal counsel we can find. His reputation has taken a hit and after we announced that the incident happened families that were interested in him were no longer interested in him despite there being no evidence that any bite was caused by butters. Everyone who has met butters has loved him he has worked with trainers he has been amazing with children he has met several potential adopters that fell in love with him and is currently in a foster home who adores him and only has great things to say about him. We will not allow these people to tarnish Butters character and potential he put him in a position to be labeled a dangerous dog when he has had zero history of aggression yet the dogs he was involved with do. We reached out to a great attorney who is eager to help us but we need to raise $2500 for a retainer so we can properly ensure the Butters is protected against these people who want to see him punished for something he most likely did not do We are a foster based, bully breed rescue located in Philadelphia. We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Philadelphias most at risk pitbulls and pitbull type dogs. We frequently pull dogs who are in great need of behavioral or medical intervention from the city shelters death row. We then provide the life saving training and/or medical care that the dogs need to get ready to find their forever homes! Hi friends, join me in making a difference by supporting a good cause! I’m raising money for Philly Bully Team and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
