Jessica Leffew's Cancer Fight!

This fundraiser is for Jessica Leffew, who is currently fighting breast cancer. I am Traci, and Jessica has been my dear friend for the past 15 (what??) years. We met at church, and she has been my sister in Christ, my prayer warrior, my place to vent, my fellow kindergarten Bible teacher, my iron sharpener, and the only one who shares my dumb humor. She gives everyone she knows SO MUCH, and I am starting a platform for us to give back!
Jessica's story started when she had a routine mammogram in January, when two small lumps were found in her armpit. After an ultrasound and two biopsies, in April, she was diagnosed with breast cancer that had spread to her lymph nodes. The next month was full of lots of tests, lots of doctors, and lots of prayers.
The treatment plan was, well, long. Jessica realized she would have to do chemo, then surgery, then radiation, then more chemo. The sum total of treatment time would be over a year!
By the time of this account, in November 2020, Jessica is halfway done, and she has shown more grace, positivity and trust in the Lord than I can imagine! It turns out she looks BEAUTIFUL without hair, eyebrows are more important than we realize, and memes can make your day.
COVID-19 stinks in a lot of ways, but especially for someone getting diagnosed then treated for cancer. Jess has been to all of her appointments and chemos totally ALONE because they were not allowing visitors. That has not stopped her, and she has made some new friends among other patients!
Jessica's main message through all of this is that the Lord is in control, and he is providing for her and her family. They were able to meet their medical deductible for 2020, so all of this very expensive treatment and surgery has been taken care of with insurance.
But 2021 is a new (and hopefully better for everyone) year! It brings with it a new deductible, but also further treatment - radiation and more chemo.
Raising at least $6,000 for Jessica and her family will help them meet their deductible for insurance, which will make everything easier financially for them this year. If we can raise this by the start of 2021, we can help take away any money worries they might have, and Jessica can just focus all her energy in to getting well and keeping her eyes on God!
