It's been a long road road for Jessica Bailey (JB.) She was diagnosed with kidney disease out of the blue three years ago. Just a few months after her diagnosis she had to leave her career as a power engineer, and focus on her health. Her kidney function was deteriorating rapidly, and many other health complications and hospital stays followed. Today, her doctors say she has less than 1 % kidney function remaining. JB spends 10 hours a day on dialysis, trying her very best to stay healthy. The only thing that will save her life is a kidney transplant.
September 23rd the Province of Saskatchewan announced that its organ donor program was being suspended. Due to an overwhelming number of COVID-19 patients in the hospital, the transplant staff had been transferred where they were needed; to the ICU.
JB has spent the last eight months completing test after test with a potential donor. We thought we had passed the finish line, but on October 7th, her donor was shockingly disqualified from donation.

As you can imagine, the news was devastating.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help support JB when the time finally comes for her transplant.
JB's kidney disease has been her families main focus. Those caring for her have had to miss work to do so, and this delay has increased the amount of work missed. Following the surgery, she will continue to require care, until she is independent again and back to her fun, awesome 'good ol' JB self.
JB is working to navigate the currently paused health care system in Sk. We are waiting on answers to many questions.
