Jesse Campagna's Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
My fiance Jesse Campagna has been waiting for a kidney transplant for the last 4 years.

He is currently recieving five, 4 hour, home dialysis treatments a week, a process which removes waste and cleans his blood. It is time consuming, exhausting, and mentally and physically demanding for him, but thankfully this treatment allows him to live a somewhat normal life.  He has been able to continue his work as a public health epidemiologist, mitigating health disparities in underserved communities and designing programs for those most vulernable to HIV/AIDS and other diseases.

He has been in need of a kidney transplant since his previous transplant failed five years ago while he was working in South Africa creating the worlds first multi-drug tuberculosis surveilliance system, allowing thousands of people to receive the care that they need.

Now, Jesse needs your help!

This December, Jesse was finally accepted to Vanderbilt Medical Center's Kidney Transplant List, allowing Vanderbilt to test prospective donors to see if they are a blood type match for Jesse. When a successful transplant match is soon found, we would like to have funds in place to cover expenses during this medical procedure for Jesse and his donor.

Funds are needed for:

- Travel, accomodations, and time off work for his donor:
Potential donors being tested are required to travel to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville where Jesse has been accepted.

-Recovery Time
-Jesse's approved donor will need to travel for the scheduled transplant, losing time off work during their travel and recovery period.

- Jesse will also be unable to work for a minimum recovery period of three months following his surgery. Although his insurance thankfully covers much of the burden, co-pays and deductibles associated with testing and treatment, before and after surgery, leave many expenses to cover.  Though recovery is estimated at 3 months, the costly anti-rejection drugs he will have to take are a life long expense with many side effects which also must be treated.

Please consider a donation, even $5 will help.
If you cannot donate please share this request!
      Heck, share it either way!

Thank you to any one willing to help Jesse during this process. Your generosity and compassion are appreciated more than you could ever know.

-Potential Donors Still Needed!
- I was tested over the holiday and was not found to be a match in blood type. I am hoping to remain in consideration for the match program, but due to my rare blood type they say it'll be ~2 years.

So please, if you are interested in becoming a donor for Jesse, all inquiries welcome:

-If you are interested in being tested as a donor for Jesse, more information about kidney donation and preliminary intake forms can be found at Vanderbilt Health:
