Dear Friends & Family,
It was just over two years ago when I began to feel the call in my life of going to Africa. I did not know when, why, or how. It almost seemed like a far off dream. I have cherished this dream in my heart daily. There was even a time in my life when I wanted to just drop everything and go to Africa. But I knew that God was not finished with me at CFNI. God had so much more He wanted to accomplish in and through me before I could see this dream a reality. While at Christ for the Nations I had the priviledge of joining the evangelism team, ministering to the homeless, joining a dance team, and being a camp counselor. I went on to major in Children's and Family, this is where God broke my heart for the least of these. I know that in this life, I want my life to be poured out in reaching those around me with the love of Christ. The same love that He has freely lavished upon me, I will lavish upon them. I feel so delighted and fulfilled in my heart that I have now been accepted to attend Harvest Missions School in Pemba Mozambique, Africa from June 1- August 6, 2013!
Harvest School is led by Heidi and Rolland Baker.Heidi once came to speak at our school. I did not know who she was until that day. After she was done speaking she prayed for many who stayed behind and wanted prayer. It was then that I encountered God in a way that would forever change my journey in life. I felt God's love so strong over me as He began to birth something great inside of me, the desire to be a sent out one. To live a life of significance over safety.
"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest therefore to send out workers into His harvest field."
-Matthew 9:37-38
Harvest School will be an intensive missionary training school, like spiritual boot camp. While in Africa I will gain understanding on how to minister cross-culturally, become practically equipped for the physical challenges of third world nations, live with hundreds of children, experience the Father's heart, and serve in orphanages, hospitals, jails, and housing projects. God is calling His sons and daughters to go and make disciples of all nations, that all nations would know Him and encounter His love.
In the months before I go I will be required to read nine books, I will begin to learn portuguese, and prepare myself mentally, physically, and spiritually. This journey will be great but it will not come without a price of laying down my life.
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him."

As many of you know I paid my way through bible school. I know that God was always there providing for me and sometimes He would come through with financial miracles and where there seemed to be no way, He would make one! I work at a restaurant during the evenings and recently began teaching Preschool at Christ for the Nations. I have the wonderful privilege of teaching a three year old class. I am under amazing leadership that is constantly persuing God's presence and to do all things with a spirit of excellence.
As I felt that God was finally releasing me in 2013 to go to Africa I began saving money for the past several months and have saved almost $1,000. I have used this to secure my deposit for school and to save towards purchasing my flight. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I feel very priviledged that I have been chosen to attend. I know that many apply but only few get chosen for a time. I am asking that you would prayerfully support me on this next journey in my life. I still need at least $7,000 by April. It may seem like a lot but if 70 people gave $100 or 150 people gave $47, the goal would be met. Any amount that you could give would be a tremendous help. This cost covers my tuition, room and board, flight, local transportation, diet of basic African cuisine, visas, vaccinations, books, supplies, and finances I have to commit to in the states while I am gone.
I am asking that you would prayerfully seek in what God would have you to sow into this trip. Your prayers during this time are greatly needed as well. I know that God is faithful and that He will fulfill His purpose for this trip and your prayers will not go unheard. Every amount of money will go directly towards the trip and will be handled diligently. I now know why God did not release me to go to Africa when I first wanted it. He was preparing my heart for the things that He has awaiting for me. In that preparation He has also given me tools to be effective and a spirit that is sensitive and obedient to His voice.
