Amy and Jeremy have been married for 12 years. When they met each other they both admit they just 'clicked', they knew they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. Amy says that he has a gift for making her feel special, that no woman could ever hold a candle to her. She is the love of his life and he the love of hers.
Together they have 3 children who are cherished; Lily, Jet and Summer.
In May 2012, a suspect mole was removed due to a routine mole mapping check. The mole was diagnosed as a melanoma. He had an operation to remove it and with optimism, they hoped that everything was going to be alright. Mid 2013, they found a lump in his groin, again another operation was performed. Again, they were hopeful that this was it - that the cancer would be removed. A short month later, doctors discovered another lump in the same area but deeper into the body. His treatments were exhausting, often leaving Jeremy spent. They soon discovered the cancer was spreading at an alarming rate and had coursed its way through his liver, his arms and his back. They have tried extensive treatment programs, trial drugs, pursued all avenues in hopes of trying to rid Jeremy from this cancer. Last week they recieved the news that Doctors had exhausted all medical treatments and at best, they might perhaps have 3 more months together.
Amy has since resigned from her work to be able to spend as much time with her husband and with their children as they can.
Jeremy or Jezz to those that know him, comes across to many, as a quiet and reserved person but as Amy points out, is always up for a laugh. A fun loving, easy going, very hands on father, he has always been good at getting down and playing with his children - sleep overs, camp outs in the backyard, or just spending time with them and playing. The children adore him for that. He is the calming influence in their family, the steady hand.
Jezz is a faithful man, a humble man. He has never complained or murmured since being diagnosed, or even while enduring the different treatments. Jeremys faith is steadfast and unwavering. Although he has been unwell for some time now, he still tries to attend as many things as he can. He doesn't shut himself off - in fact, its the opposite.
His friends and family will be quick to tell you that Jezz is a simple guy. He doesn't need grandeur. He needs his family, a couple of mates, a Bundaberg Sarsaparilla and he's good to go.
Amys goal is for Jezz to be home for as long as possible. This might mean the need for additional care, medical equipment and medication during this palliative stage.
At this stage we are needing to raise 25k to help facilitate the care that Jezz requires. This money would also help cover mortgage repayments and other everyday family living expenses which are needed now that Amy is no longer working.
We humbly request your help in supporting this family. Any financial assistance would mean that at least this specific load would be lifted from the family. It would mean extra expenses would be covered, that as a family they can enjoy the flexibility that if Jeremy wants to do something they could just go and do it, that they could spend time together as a family. To have family around him all the time would mean the world to Amy and to Jeremy.
