Beating Bone Cancer for Jen

Donation protected
After months of putting up with a sore knee, (putting it down to being a 'washed-up' athlete) in August 2019, after numerous scans and a biopsy, Jenah Piwanski (34) was delivered the unexpected words "you have cancer". At the time, Jen was sitting with her husband by her side and their adorable 4 month old baby in her arms.

The diagnoses was delivered and Jenah was told she had a rare type of bone tumour and cancer, a Parosteal Osteosarcoma, which is commonly found in adolescents.

It was shock at first, however, seemed a simple fix - surgery, scrape away the bone tumour and done-ski's. Unfortunately, the treatment quickly upgraded to chemotherapy, future fertility decisions and the added juggle of raising a baby with no extended family in Victoria, and now, only one income for a prolonged period.

Jenah is an accomplished, self-employed commercial photographer, however, due to the nature of Jen's work means her career is on hold indefinitely, and that means, her income is also on hold. Simon, Jen's husband, has been tirelessly looking after the home, their very young daughter, Stevie, all whilst trying to juggle full-time work + opting to be "on call" on weekends to try and bring in additional income to support the family during this time.

Jen, Simon & Stevie insist on nothing more than love and support, however, the treatment plan at this stage has no end date in sight. There are many more months ahead of extended hospital visits due to the intense nature of her rare bone cancer, often being admitted into hospital 4 days at a time.

Whilst Jen beats the bone cancer, any financial assistance would be so deeply appreciated. The funds will go towards all financial commitments including a large cost for surgery, constant medical bills, transport costs to and from the hospital, as well as baby sitting assistance for Stevie (child care is not an option as this point due to infection risk).  In addition to this will be the ongoing rehabilitation after major leg surgery.

When Jen is back to full health, if possible they would also love to be able to go on a short family get-away to refresh the body and mind after the year it has been for herself, Simon and Stevie.

Thanks to family and friends who have been incredibly generous in supporting the family at this time with interstate trips, food deliveries and emotional support. Every little bit of help so far has gone a long way.
