Jen Cable - Beat Leukemia Fund

Donation protected
On December 13, 2017, Jen Cable was diagnosed with Leukemia and was immediately admitted to the hospital. In the coming days at Memorial Herman, she learned that she has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (“ALL”) and was in for, quite literally, the fight of her life.  “Acute” means it came on suddenly and will progress quickly. The doctors wasted no time.  They transfered Jen to Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center to receive the best of ALL and transplant care.  Jen spent Christmas in the hospital receiving her first round of Chemo.

Jen will require multiple rounds of chemo, followed by a bone marrow transplant. Each round lasting an estimated 4-5 weeks.

This past week, on January 4th, Jen took a turn for the worst.  She became septic and required emergency surgery. By nothing short of a miracle, she made it through a 5 day battle and today, made huge strides back in the right direction.

Now, she must recover from surgery and return to the fight against ALL. This treatment is long, it’s hard, it’s keeping her from the ones she loves and the life she cherishes.

If you are a friend of Jen's, or even had the oppurtunity of getting to meet her, then you are really lucky.  No doubt she helped you, listened to you, offered you some sort of assistance, and met you in the way that Jen always does- with a smile and happiness.  Jen is a do-gooder by definition.  Helping all creatures, big and small, is what drives Jen. You can't help too many people and you sure can't help too many animals.  She sees the good in every day.

This is when Jen needs us the most. There is the lost income (for all of 2018 expected) and the hospital costs will be in the catastrophic arena.  Pat, and Jen’s parents, are by her side day and night.

All funds raised here will go to cover costs directly related to Jen’s fight, recovery and getting her back on her feet.  She has a hard battle ahead of her, but if you know Jen, she’s a fighter and she’s up for the challenge.

We are committed to keeping everyone up to date on Jen’s progress and all ways that people can help.
