Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)

Update: JULY 20, 2011.... URGENT PRAYER AND SUPPORT Hello Everyone, We really need your prayers. Tonight we received some news of my brother, Jeff. The news was a little unexpected, but we all, as a family, boldly stand strong and courageous that God's devine plan for Jeff is one of greatness! He still REIGNS and is completely SOVEREIGN and in control.


Jeff's second biopsy came in tonight and the report was not as positive as we had hoped. The chemotherapy he went through did its job, but unfortunately, there were still a considerable amount of cancer cells that were resistant to the therapy. Therefore, Jeff will need to start an even vigorous bout of chemo asap, and the doctors have also concluded that he will need a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible as well. This treatment and transplant needs to be done at a medical hospital, yet to be determined, in Dallas. Unlike the treatment he has received graciously at Medical Center Hospital, this procedure cannot be done without medical insurance and further financial support. We are asking for fervent prayer that Medicaid be approved so that Jeff's care can be further continued in Dallas. We are also sincerely again asking and will be praying that the Lord lay upon the hearts of any of you who can and are willing to give and donate your financial gifts to aid in this process. On Wednesday, June 29th, I received the news of my bone marrow biopsy. Based on the report I received, the doctors determined that I have Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). This is an aggressive type of cancer, but God is my Great Physician & by His stripes I am healed!

I have been in patient care as a RN nurse for twelve years. God has blessed me during that time with some amazing patients and I have gotten to meet many wonderful families. I have maintained my position as a PRN nurse for various hospitals and private agencies in the Odessa/Midland area in West Texas. Unfortunately, at the time of my diagnosis, I was not medically insured. Therefore, my hospitalization and treatments will not be covered under a medical insurance plan. To add, the doctors have also told me that my condition will not allow me to work in any capacity for at least six months.

Now the good news is that by God's everlasting grace, I have received some medical financing to cover my treatments, but there are still many financial hurdles that will need to be overcome. I know that He is my Shepherd, my Provider, and my Deliverer, therefore, His will in all of this I am assured by His faithful Word will be done.
