Jeff Seal Lung Transplant Help Fund (IP Fibrosis)

Donation protected
In 2018, my dad Jeff Seal was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. In February of 2020 he got pneumonia and by May, his doctors told our family that we would need a Lung Transplant.  He was placed on the National transplant list by mid-summer. The doctor that performed the preliminary surgery to get him ready for the transplant is the doctor that helped Christopher Reeves, Superman, get off of the ventilator.

In August, my dad was in the Operating Room prepped for a lung, but that fell through.  On September 21st he received the Lung that saved his life.  My mom has spent many weeks at the hospital with him and this has been a  very difficult time for our family, emotionally, physically and financially.

Last weekend, my dad started showing signs of organ rejection. He was put back on the ventilator and not only does he have bad pneumonia again, but tests came back positive for MRSA and E-Coli bacteria.  A ventilator isn’t enough to oxygenate his lungs and the pressure from the vent was too much for sick lungs so they decided to put him on ECMO support which is like a by-pass machine for the lungs. Today is exactly 1 week since he was intubated. He’s on 4 different antibiotics and still very sick. We are waiting for the antibiotics to work and the lungs to heal and hopefully we can get him off of the ventilator soon.

My dad never took a day off work when he was diagnosed.  He worked up until the day, he could no longer breathe.   Our insurance doesn’t cover nearly enough.  The monthly cost of the meds is more than what we all make combined.

I am reaching out to our friends and family to see if I can help relieve some stress on my mom, to keep us afloat.  I appreciate any donation or share that you can provide.  My mom has always helped anyone in need even when it meant giving up things for herself.  I am hoping this GoFundMe can help her so she can focus on getting my dad home and healthy.   Thank you so much, Love Nikki

December 9, 2020 Update: Jeff is doing better everyday. It has been over 6 weeks now that he has been in ICU. He is still on a ventilator but no longer on the ECMO. His lungs are getting better and his body is getting stronger.  Yesterday he took a few steps and today he took a short walk. Thank you to everyone for the love and support and for sharing the GoFundMe.
