JCHS Band Program - SHARE THE LOVE

We are the Jersey Community High School Band Boosters. We are asking for your assistance in raising funds for the JCHS Band Students and Color Guard in Jerseyville, IL. While many schools have cut music programs from their curriculum, JCHS remains committed to our student musicians. Even with support from the district, the band still has many underfunded needs. We are setting a goal to raise $10,000 to help supplement needs and improve aspects of the band program for our talented high school students.

Music education positively impacts the development of well-rounded students including improved language comprehension, teamwork, individual expression, problem-solving, and enhanced self-esteem. Our JCHS Band Members are a hard-working group of outstanding students who love music and work tirelessly to well-represent their school and community. They perform at community parades, Veterans Day and Memorial Day ceremonies, Jazz events, and home football/basketball games.

Funds raised will be used to first reduce the annual band uniform fees, provide senior scholarships, and create a student instrument repair fund. Your donation will help make band participation affordable for ALL students. In addition to reducing student band fees, we wish to replace some of our large instruments that have fallen into disrepair. The band program currently has $75,000 in equipment that needs replacing.

In years past, our only option for the replacement of these large instruments has been to purchase USED instruments from other school districts. These used instruments may cost less, but they have fewer useable years left in them. They need to be replaced more often. The JCHS Band Boosters plan to use a portion of the Go Fund Me proceeds to aid in purchasing NEW instruments for our band. This year's wish list is made of just a few of the large items that need replacing: a new sousaphone, new quad drum sets with harnesses, and new color guard flags. With your help, we can begin replacing the instruments and equipment in the worst condition. Without donations, we would not be able to replace these very expensive items.

In the past two years, the Band Boosters have been able to replace several smaller items on the band's wish list. New drum major platforms for our field performances, music stands for all students to use daily, and a brand new set of concert bells have been the rewards of our small fundraisers. These smaller purchases have had a drastic impact on our band, but we must now focus on the large items which require greater funding. Every student in the band benefits from our purchases through better performances and a greater sense of pride.
