Shane's Medical Fund

Dear Family and Friends,

If you are reading this, you know our medical situation.  Our son Shane had surgery in September to remove a large brain tumor that was aggressive and malignant.  He is currently doing well.  His incision has healed well and he handled radiation therapy without much difficulty.  As of today, his follow up MRI shows no changes from his post surgery MRI.  That is good news for his brain.  His fight isn’t over.  Though it appears all is well, he will be going through regular blood tests and MRIs to ensure there is no regrowth.

And now the nitty gritty of why you are here.  Many of you have asked how you can help.  Our main answer is still prayer.  We know God is good and He will care for us.  However, we have reached a point where we must extend our arms and receive the help so many of you have offered to us.  At the time of Shane’s surgery, we did not have insurance and did not qualify for any government assistance.  On October 6th James became unemployed and I have not worked since August.  As of October, we became qualified for government assistance.

Unfortunately, this has left us with medical bills from September through October 5th.  At this time, we have incurred more than $250,000 in medical expenses that we must pay out of pocket.  Yes, you read that correctly, we owe just over a quarter of a million dollars in medical bills.  Unfortunately, the institutions we owe this money to are unwilling to make payment arrangements or reductions on these bills.  So, at this time we are reaching out to our friends and family.  So many of you have wanted to help and we did not want to ask for anything but prayer.  We still don’t want to ask for anything but prayer.  However, bills are something that can’t be paid with good wishes.

We realize that money is tight everywhere, but any little bit helps.  We have set our goal at one third of what we owe.  $84,000 is a huge amount and we understand that we might not reach that goal.  But, whatever amount we are able to raise will go towards the bills we owe on and hopefully keep them out of collections.

If you are wondering about our household bills…we have used our meager savings to pay those bills.  At this time, our household bills should be ok through February.  At that point, we are hoping that a tax return will provide for March.  And of course, amidst all of that, we are praying for jobs.

We wish you all many blessings and much thanks for all of your prayer and support in our time of need.

GOD IS SO GOOD!
