What do you do when your friend gets scammed and loses $2500? It's hard for me to just sit here and not do anything.
After facing homelessness, my friend Hannah thought she found the perfect apartment for herself and her kids. She saw the apartment and immediately filled out an application. She was sooo excited when her application was accepted, and she paid for the first and last month's rent and deposit. Then...she didn't hear anything...
She went to the apartment and talked to a different person and this person had never even heard of the man my friend Hannah mentioned.
Hannah was devastated! She filed a police report, called her bank, but no one can help her. I have to tell you that when this happened, she couldn't even get out of bed for two days. She really beat herself up, and isn't this what we all do? We become a victim...twice.
So, here's where you come in. I'm asking you to give anything you can to help Hannah. First, last and deposit came to $2500...but honestly anything will help! It's a small way we can take action against an injustice and it's a way for Hannah to have a chance of having a nice home for herself and her children.
I have to also tell you a bit about Hannah. She's someone who is so inspiring to me. She knows what it's like to be homeless, and she's now working AND getting her Masters Degree in Social Work! She graduates this December, so I can't think of a better graduation gift. She wants to help others who suffered from mental illness and homelessness because she understands it first hand. She's also just the most beautiful and loving person.
It's the holiday season, and I can't think of a better time to help someone in real need.
