JC Glindmyer Superhero Scholarship

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jordan, and I am JC Glindmyer’s daughter. My father passionately owned Earthworld Comics in Albany, New York for the last 35 years, and took great pride in using his platform as a local business owner to support his community. He regularly did fundraisers at store events, donated books to schools and libraries, and was just the grown up that most kids wish they had.

JC suddenly passed away after a cardiac arrest on Monday 5/8, surrounded by his wife, children and their spouses. JC was an amazing father to his three children, and after his passing, it’s become evident to us that he was a fatherly role for a lot of people, and Earthworld itself has been a safe space for so many. We have read every one of your comments and have been so touched by your stories. ❤️

People have been asking where to send flowers, and that’s not JC’s style. Our family has been so touched by your outpouring of love and support, and would like to carry on JC’s memory in the form of a scholarship for a Schenectady High School student that is graduating from a vocational program.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing $5, the average cost of a comic book, to the JC Glindmyer Superhero Scholarship Fund. Donations in his honor may also be made to the American Heart Association.

If you’d like to donate in person, we will be hosting JC’s celebration of life at McGeary’s in Albany on Sunday, May 21 from 2-5 pm. Stop in, tell some stories, and let’s send my dad off truly the way he would have wanted. Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

UPDATE 5/12:

Wow!!! My dad’s scholarship donations are at over $3000 right now. He would be SO shocked at this, and actually, so are we. Our modest goal of $1,000 was to go towards one Schenectady High School Vocational program graduate, but that goal was crushed within an hour of creating the GoFundMe. We’ve decided as a family to increase the goal to $5,000 and choose 5 students to distribute the money to.

My brothers and I all have trade educations and know that there aren’t as many resources available for financial assistance for trade school graduates. $1,000 could allow a new hair stylist to purchase a new shears and a blow dryer, a new set of knives for an aspiring chef, some tools for a new mechanic, you get the idea.

A tremendous THANK YOU for your generosity and for bringing some joy to a heartbreaking life event.
