Jaxson's Journey with MDS & AML
As many of you know, Jaxson was diagnosed with Myelodysplatic Syndrome (MDS) at 18 months old. The doctors found a donor, and he was scheduled for a bone marrow transplant in January, but his bone marrow biopsy showed that his MDS had turned into Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Jaxson started his first round of chemo the next day. This first round of chemo put the AML into remission. He then had another round of chemo as prevention while his donor went through another round of screening to make sure he was still clear to donate. On April 23, Jaxson was admitted to the hospital for his transplant. He had 9 days of intense chemo to deplete his immune system. On May 2nd, he received his new cells from his donor. Jaxson was discharged from the hospital on May 28th. We will have to stay in medical housing near the hospital for the next 2 months or so for frequent clinic visits and blood work. We have received grants that will cover the cost of the first month of medical housing, but unfortunately are out of grants to apply for after that. The cost of housing, groceries, etc. adds up quickly when you are away from home and out of work. Any donation, no matter how big or small, is very helpful and appreciated! If you are not able to donate, you can continue to pray for Jaxson and that means just as much to us. Thank you so much to everyone for all the help, love, and prayers you have given so far and will continue to give as we continue on Jaxson's Journey to complete health and coming home!!
