Jason's Medical Bills

On November 30, 2017, my Uncle, Jason Hirschfeld, suffered a massive heart attack. After over 20 minutes, paramedics were able to get his heart going again. However, he remained unconscious. Doctors performed surgery and put a stint in his heart. In order to bring about the best possible outcome neurologically, doctors induced hypothermia for the next three days. After warming him, he remained in a coma, fighting a staph infection and lung damage. Wednesday we were told to prepare for the worst after negative EEG results and a grim prognosis. However on Friday, Jason opened his eyes and began to track noises. Saturday he began to look at his wife, Michelle. Each day has brought little improvements, from slightly moving his limbs, to expressive facial gestures, and even a smile through the respirator. Doctors are currently working to get him to breathe on his own, off of the respirator. Jason's progress so far is nothing short of a miracle, but we still have no idea what kind of rehabilitation lies ahead. Jason is a freelance photographer who often works with the Virginian-Pilot and the AP, and brings in the household income for himself, my aunt and my young cousins. We would greatly appreciate anything you can give, as medical bills will certainly be extraordinary for this hospital stay, not to mention the rehabilitation ahead and the fact that he will not be able to work for the forseeable future.  This is unfortunately a very modest estimate compared to the projected total, but anything is a huge help.
