Jared Matthews is going to World's in Japan

Jared started at the Bay of Quinte Gymnastics club when he was only 18 months old. At that time he was in the parent and tot program with his dad. From the first day Jared had no fear and loved going to gymnastics every weekend.
Jared branched away for a couple of years to try his hand in other sports like soccer, baseball and hockey but preferred the individual type of sport and returned to gymnastics. He really took a liking to tumbling and started going 2 - 3 times a week. His parents, coaches and fellow tumblers could see Jared had a real talent for this. It went from recreational tumbling to competitive tumbling and in 2016 Jared started at Level 2 tumbling and began competing.
Jared now trains 3 times per week, 4 hours each training session. His focus, determination, hard work and dedication to the sport really have shown in the past 3 years. Jared continues to push himself and is always asking his coach to try more difficult skills.
In 2019 Jared started at Level 5 and at his second competition mobilized to Level 6. In level 6 there isn’t an age limit so Jared competes against other tumblers that are between 2 and 11 years older than he is. At his latest competition which was the Canadian Nationals, Jared had the opportunity to qualify for the World Age Groups Competition. For this to happen he had to achieve a certain score and degree of difficulty. On the first day of competition Jared was successful and is now part of Team Canada. On November 30th Jared will be travelling to Tokyo, Japan to represent Canada and compete against other countries and athletes in the 13-14 year old age category.
