Janine Lauze Nursing Scholarship Fund

Janine Lauze - wife, mother, nana, aunt, dear friend, and registered nurse - recently passed away following her courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She carried her traditional grace and generosity to the end. She decided she wanted to provide future nurses or medical professionals scholarship opportunities. Her goal is to offer scholarships to high school students from the Portland (Maine) area for as long as possible.
Janine was a 1971 graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing. Her thirty-five-year career as a registered nurse was a passion, and proved to fit her personality perfectly. She brought compassion and gentle nature to comfort patients in their most vulnerable moments. She worked the majority of her career in the operating rooms of St. Mary’s in Lewiston, Redington Fairview in Skowhegan, and Maine Eye Center in Portland. Janine's vision and leadership were instrumental in the design and build out of a new operating room suite at Redington Fairview in Skowhegan. As a charge nurse in Skowhegan, her colleagues remember how she encouraged her fellow nurses to raise their standards in their chosen professions.
We appreciate your consideration and generosity. Janine's spirit will carry forward in many ways, including these scholarship awards.
