Janet's Final Days: Support Gina's Love
Donation protected
My name is Gina Levato and I am raising costs for end-of-life expenses for my wife, Janet Fox. This is my wife, Janet, pictured here. We live in Broward County, Florida, with our two dogs. We have been together for 11 years due to a chance encounter with mutual musician friends. We ended up getting married in 2016, on March 25th, which is also Janet's birthday. For the last 11 years, she has been my best friend, soulmate, and love of my life. We have a life of music, laughter, and deep connections and a love so real, it sings in my bones. Watching someone you love so deeply and not being able to do anything or think about preparing for a future without her is one of the hardest things I am facing. We share not just a life but a song, and the notes are now being silenced. I am asking for help and this is not easy for me at all. But it is necessary so I am able to honor her when the time comes, with love, dignity, and deep respect.
Janet went into the hospital on March 18, 2025, for lower abdominal pain and swelling in her stomach. After a week of testing, as of March 25 (our anniversary and her birthday), the results were stage 4 ovarian cancer. The cancer apparently has metastasized into her stomach, liver, and kidneys. The doctors, trying to be optimistic, placed a port in her chest in the hopes of being able to start chemo, and she was sent home for a few days to get some rest and PT. Janet was not strong enough, ended up with an infection through the port, and was readmitted to the hospital. The port was removed so that she could fight the infection and then it all went downhill. As of yesterday, the doctors are no longer optimistic as her kidneys and liver are failing. She is now in hospice , this happened so fast. Throughout this, Janet has been on my insurance. We pushed to get Medicaid, but I dealing with multiple copays since the beginning of March. My insurance has a most out of pocket payment of 9K, we did get Medicaid, but I don't know what I will still be responsible for.
We have been through so much in the last four years where we did not think we would make it to the next day, and I never asked anyone for anything. The past four years included us living in our car, losing two jobs, losing an apartment due to the place being sold. In the last four years, Janet had to have neck surgery due to a fall, and she had two strokes in 2024. She has not been able to work; I have been the sole provider. I drive for Uber Eats, and I am also a bartender. Janet has not worked since prior to 2020. We finally were able to obtain an apartment in October, and prior to this medical diagnosis of hers, I was laid off from my bartending job. I have another job, but I am not able to work as much as I am going back and forth to the hospital plus, my car needs about $1,100 worth of work.
I have dealt with the death of my parents and my grandparents, and of course loyal pets, but Janet is my other half and my life partner and this is destroying my heart. I have no family other than Janet. Janet's family lives in Pittsburgh Pa, and four of her brothers are all unwell. They have no money and cannot even arrange to come see her in her final hours.
Cremation costs in Broward County can cost up to $4,000 and does not even cover a celebration of life. Please help me support me and my wife in her final days by giving what you can. Any support, any donation in any size means the world to me and to Janet during this deeply painful time. Thank you so much for helping us both.
