Janet for Alteryears

During the past year AlterYear’s owner Janet Wilson has developed severe kidney disease. Our company has suffered in her absence, (though thanks to the temporary staff, we’ve muddled through). However finances have definitely suffered. There has been a great deal of medical expenses (dr’s copays, lab tests, prescriptions, surgical procedures and hospital stays). In addition there has been substantial loss of income (no new AlterYears patterns, no new products, less money to buy inventory, reduced number of shows, temporary help etc.).

All of this has drained our reserves nearly dry.

 During the next few months, there will be a lot of extra expenses as well.

Janet will be going through the surgery, medical procedures, and training to transition to home dialysis. At the end of this, if all goes well, Janet will be able to do nightly dialysis at home or on the road with the mobile unit.

The net result of all of this should be a vastly improved state of health. Janet should be able to return to running the business, developing new patterns, finding new products, and even going to  shows. (She has missed seeing all her show friends these past months.)

While the ongoing medical expenses after she is on dialysis will continue at a maintenance level, the big expense we need to fund is the vehicles to get all of us to out of town shows. Before all this, we did shows with a big truck and a lot of camping gear. The dialysis procedure has more requirements for transport vehicles. No outdoor camping anymore!

After lots of discussion, we’ve narrowed down what we need to a tow vehicle and a travel trailer equipped with electricity (for the machine), clean running water, climate control and of course, cargo space. After some preliminary searching, the AlterYears mechanics believe we should be able to find both vehicles in good running order for about $10,000 total.

So for AlterYears to continue in business and our owner to keep running it, we need to pay the medical expenses to date (about $5000 including the dialysis transition) and acquire two new cargo vehicles (about $10,000)
 As for timing, the medical bills are piling up now. We can't go on the road until we get the new transport in the next couple of months. So we could use help real soon now.
