The Jane we all know and love — as a mom, a goofy friend, a just-a-phone-call-away family member, a kind stranger, and all-around thoughtful, genuine, and giving person — is fighting for her health like she's never fought before.
Jane's been through a lot. Beyond her 30+ surgeries throughout her life, her personal hardships at the beginning of this year unsettled her home of 17 years. But through all of that, she kept her strong faith and her friends close. With all of your support, she has remained positive and in high spirits even through her cancer diagnosis just this past April.
From her hysterectomy through five weeks of radiation, and now preparing for six months of chemo — through her favorite holiday, Christmas — Jane has been a trooper. Despite an allergic reaction that almost stopped her breathing during her first chemo treatment, to sorting through mountains of health insurance paperwork, she's remained a joy to be around, her good nature and faith unshaken.
The chemo she's on, however, is tiring and makes her ache. And as her daughter, I've seen it steal a little of the joy Jane gets from her every day doings, whether she's in the garden or hanging out with her pseudo grandson, Ashi.
Speaking of stealing, her co-pays and ancillary medical expenses are highway robbery. It's almost laughable that a wig isn't covered under her health insurance.
And so it's with some reservation, but lots of hope, that we ask for your continued help. You all have already been indescribably kind and supportive, from CVS runs for prescriptions to home improvement help, from rides to and from countless doctors' appointments to pop-ins with flowers in-hand.
We'd be so grateful for any spiritual and financial support you can provide Jane through the next six months and beyond. Prayers and pennies count for so much. And as small thank-yours, Emily and Suzanne are going to bake for you and Jane will share with you her handmade jewelry.
