Welcome to Jane Meek's Fundraiser!
My name is Elle Aviv, and I am one of Jane's care team. As most of you know, my dear friend Jane was diagnosed with breast cancer and tested positive for the BRCA-2 gene mutation and has been going through a very difficult time. We all know what an amazing human being she is and that she is one of the strongest people, but what you might not know is that she could use some more help, and I wanted to ask you all for your support.
Jane's been traveling between her home in Brooklyn, NY and Memphis and Merigold, Mississippi since August when she was diagnosed. Her double mastectomy had to be done in Memphis, which is 2 hours away from her parents' rural home in Merigold where she would recover. She and her parents have had to travel round trip frequently to Memphis - that is a lot of driving and gas, and they have made this trip at least 8 times already!
Also Jane has now learned that her gene mutation status requires that she have a hystorectomy after chemo and radiation treatments, and the best facility for this is back in New York. So with 3 more surgeries to go, and another cross-country move, her travel expenses keep adding up and piling up. All of these medical treatments will be spread out over the next several months.
Jane's health insurance is not the best and has refused to cover a couple of important things already. Plus, all of her deductibles that she has now met will be set back to $0 come 1/1/18, so she will have to pay these large deductibles all over again for her many medical procedures in 2018. I have set the goal of this campaign to match the amount of money that her insurance is requiring her to pay out of pocket.

**The idea behind this campaign actually came to me after I had made a donation on CaringBridge when I read 'Donate Now' on her profile (To read Jane's ongoing blog, register here: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/janescheerleaders)
But then I realized that the donation goes directly to the CaringBridge website and not to Jane. While I think it is absolutely wonderful to donate to CaringBridge since they are a non-profit organization and should be supported, I intended to make my donation to help Jane during this difficult time. Each and every donation is so very much appreciated to help Jane and her family. As much or as little as you are able to help, I am sure she would be so very grateful.
