Jamie's Fundraiser Wee Box Appeal
Donation protected
Hi my name is Jamie and I go to St Cuthbert's Primary School. I would love to help families this Lent in poor countries, to live in peace, free themselves from hunger, poverty and injustice.
I have decided to set up this GoFundMe page to help with the SCIAF WEE BOX Appeal. In South Sudan, a generation of children with disabilities are locked out of an education and trapped in a cycle of poverty.
Frequent conflict has left behind a legacy of fear, displacement and despair, making it one of the world’s poorest and most fragile states. Children with disabilities were already the most vulnerable in society. Now, the coronavirus pandemic has deepened already existing levels of poverty, putting them at greater risk.
Many children with disabilities in South Sudan are not able to go to school or, later on, to work and earn a living. They may have no access to support services or hospitals for treatment. They may face stigma and exclusion.
Every Lent, the time between Ash Wednesday and Easter, thousands of Scots save money in their SCIAF WEE BOX to help give a hand up to people living in poverty. This year due to the pandemic and schools being closed, a lot of families have been unable to receive a Wee Box to put their donations into. This is why we sent up this GoFundMe page to share around the community and raise money online that we can then donate to the SCIAF WEE BOX Appeal.
Please give anything you can to help people in need.
From the 12 February to 11 May, all public donations to the WEE BOX, BIG CHANGE appeal will be doubled by the UK government. No donation is too small.
