Jamie's Fighting Funds

Jamie Marie Belcher is a woman with so many amazing qualities that these words can't truly do her justice. She is a person who cares deeply about her family, her friends, her patients and virtually anyone that is lucky enough to know her. Jamie's goals and principles make her a woman of integrity and strength. She is steadfast and kind.  She puts others above herself and strives to make this world a better place by genuinely caring and listening to others needs and situations. She respects people's opinions but stays true to her own path with an open mind and a free spirit. This world is a better place with Jamie in it. She is truly a light in the darkness and a beautiful soul.

As many of you are likely aware, Jamie has been battling pain in her jaw/sinus for over four years now. Over a year ago she began pursuing an explanation for the pain she was experiencing. After going through multiple scans and tests for over a year, she received news that no one ever wants to hear.  She was told she had a very rare form of cancer called Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. 

This cancer attacks the salivary glands in the head and neck.  In the the subsequent weeks of exams and appointments, both locally and at OHSU, it has been discovered that, though uncommon, this cancer has metastasized to multiple places in her body including a large mass near her liver and numerous others along her abdomen.  While surgery was initially consider a sufficient course of treatment, the discovery of additional masses has caused the doctors to re-evaluate treatment options.

There is still much to be discovered and decided with regards to this cancer and ultimately how Jamie will decide to fight it.  What is known, however, is that the road ahead will be a long, emotional, difficult, and an expensive one.  The emotional toll of the ensuing battle will be immense and that is without taking into account the financial strain this will place on both Jamie and her husband. It is with that in mind that we have created this account.  

The medical expenses alone are overwhelming. Between tests, scans, biopsies, drug treatments and other medical procedures the costs will add up quickly.  Combine those expenses with the leave from work that Jaime is forced to take, the time off needed for Tom to join her throughout this process and the mounting travel expenses for trips up to OHSU in Portland and elsewhere, and the need for financial assistance becomes very clear.  Jamie is already several months into this exhausting and costly process so any financial assistance that can be provided would be of benefit immediately. 

Jamie's impact on our lives, and this world, has been enormous.  At this point we are reaching out to anyone  who has been privileged to know Jamie over the years and feels compelled to offer financial assistance to aid in her impending battle and recovery.  Donations of any amount will make a difference and are genuinely appreciated!
