James' medical expenses & the long road ahead

Donation protected
Okay, even though it has been over 5 months since the accident people are still asking where to donate to our family. Which is amazing since this is a long long recovery and problems keep arising
On November 29th of 2018 at around 6:55 am James was hit head on by an uninsured wrong way drunk driver at a high speed. It changed our life in a heartbeat. James was air lifted to memorial hurman were they didn't really think he had a chance of making it, but tried to save him. He had 6+ surgeons  work on him from morning till night. He then proceeded to have multiple surgeries while in STICU, 2 while in nexus, and has one lined up soon and more to expect. When he came in on that morning he had internal puncture of left lung, small intestines and colon. Parts of his colon and small intestines were removed. Fractures and compound fractures of hi right tibia right fibula 3 right metatarsals, both hip dislocations, compound fractures of the pelvis, torn left ACL and PCL nasothemoid complex fractures, maxillary compound fractures, multiple mandible fractures, orbital fractures on bot sides of the face, fractures in the frontal bone, right globe rupture, left retinal tears, multiple foot fractures, left ribs with multiple fractures and 2 right ribs with multiple fractures. Basically it scattered his face, I had to bring in a picture of him for them to reconstruct it, his right eye burst like a grape, he can't see well out of his left eye. He was a polytrama with mbi patient..... but under all odds and a few scares he was a fighter. He is alive. He was moved from hospitals, ICUs to close watch, to a neuro recovery center and is now home. The insurance has been a nightmare, they decide how long he would be at each facility before hand. He was kicked out of the neuro recovery center way before he was ready. He was still wheel chair bound, the insurance paid for 20 out patient visits and that is all they were exhausted  before he could get clearance to put weight on his left leg. The work insurance dropped him in February and we had to switch to cobra over $800 a month so he pays out of pocket and has to fight for services and fight high medical bills (health insurance won't pay for transportation from a car accident and has denied all claims from ambulance rides from hospital to hospital doctor to doctor it is a fight we are already in collections. Just one ride not covered was 20,000) More and more other problems are popping up with his fight to recovery like the latest surgery from very bad painful bone growths. He has 3 doctors for his legs alone! All are responsible for different sections and they don't seem to work as a team. Each orthopedic only focus on their area instead of his bones as a whole. His dead eye, 3 different doctors did follow ups on his eyes, one talked about surgery for his good eye because of a tear, the other didn't see a tear and wanted to take out the dead eye and hope it corrected his vision in his left, the other gave him a eye exam and glasses that make zero difference we are thinking about getting a second option and taking him to a ophthalmologist  that isn't contrary to others in their practice  . His facial reconstruction doctor wants the eye out and was talking about putting the eye socket were it is suppose to be and putting a plate on his temple so he doesn't look like a skull  , we are unsure if that is elective or not. We are thinking about going the glass eye route which is expensive and not covered by insurance. Since the person responsible for this had no car insurance everything is falling on us. It has been hard, I am swimming in bills, claims, medical records, applications, and other misc paper work (over 10,000 pages so far and still need medical records from several doctors) The CVC has been unhelpful, he was denied SSI. Any lawyers hands are tied right now due to on going criminal investigations. James' recovery has been a miracle the fact that his brain damage is minimal I have been told by nurses is uncanny. Yet he does have some brain issues it was very clear when he came home he was different and physically I was told by the orthro doctor that poly trauma patience that have had massive head injuries sometimes something in their brain makes them over grow bones, forgive me for not knowing the medical term, it makes for a speedy recovery for the breaks but the bones just keep growing and protruding unknown to medical science why, but it happens. We still have a very long road ahead of us. I would like James to walk again, to be able to eat a hamburger ( yet another problem due to the facial injuries he can't open his mouth but a little bit ) In the end I was told when he is older he will have to have a hip replacement and his chances of arthritis are almost certain. We will not be able to carry the $800 a month insurance for too much longer and sadly we had to drop our kids. ( which we already had a ER visit recently for Haley whom James still carried insurance on before it was cut. Poor girl, she uprooted her life in corsicanna to move back to conroe to help and be around family during this hard time and she herself is trying to get on her feet here when she had a good life, good job, and apartment back in corisacana but she selflessly dropped all that to come home ) Holly isn't able to enjoy her senior year like she should, she dropped out of a lot to help with James and since we are down to one car that has issues she couldn't get the job she wanted, we couldn't get her a car like we did her sister she missed out on a lot. This has effected not only James and I but all 3 kids. So here it is if you want to donate that would be amazing, but phone calls, visits are just as good as $10
