James Slade Maddox
August 29, 1968 - August 31, 2017

Slade was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to all he met. He is survived by his lovely wife Laura Maddox. He was a dedicated and loving father to Joshua Slade Maddox and Madison Kay Maddox; step-father to Ashley Cook, Joshua Cook and Virginia Cook Goodbread; and step-grandfather to Jacob Benjamin "Benji" Goodbread.

Slade was born in Atlanta, GA to James "Jim" F. Maddox and Sue Roberts Haney. He will be missed dearly by his step father, James Donelly Haney, his brother, John Scott Maddox, and his niece Amanda Maddox Kelly. Slade was adored by his extended family especially his uncles, aunts, cousins, and so many more.

Slade attended Sequoyah High School in Doraville, where he met many of his close and dear friends. Slade went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from Georgia State University.  Slade never met a stranger and went on to develop many other close friendships.

Slade was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us on August 31, 2017, only two days after his 49th birthday. Awaiting determination for the cause of death, his family is persevering through their grief and making final arrangements to celebrate his life.

The family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 6:00-7:45 p.m. at The Crowell Brothers Funeral Home, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092, immediately followed by funeral services in the chapel at 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to this Memorial fund will be graciously accepted,  gratefully appreciated and used to assist the family with some of the expenses of Slade's final arrangements.
