2020 has been a difficult year for all of us and as the year approaches its end it doesn't seem to get any easier. Last month, my dog, James, was diagnosed with bone cancer and it was pretty hard news to take in. For the past month, I have been looking into all different options to take for dealing with bone cancer. I have recently had a consultation with an oncologist of the different treatment options and steps I could take which included a bone biopsy, surgery, chemotherapy or radiation. Cancer treatments are expensive and I would like any help to ease the expenses.
James just turned 14 on December 21st. Even though he is an old dog, he doesn't act like it. He still has the energy of a young dog even with cancer. Since he is a small and healthy dog, I was told he would do well with 3 legs if he were to go under surgery. In recent events, James had a bad fall off the couch and fractured his humerus bone where the bone cancer legion is. Currently, he is in a lot of pain and is taking pain meds to ease it. I was informed the next step to take would be surgery that would completely amputate the leg off. I would love to give James the best option for his quality of life and give him a fighting chance.
Anyone who knows me knows that my dog means a lot to me. I've had him since he was one and he has been with me every step of the way. He has gotten me through difficult times and I would like to be there for him. Any amount, big or small, would be appreciated.
