Jamaica Polaskey's Medical Fund

Jamaica has been diagnosed with a rare condition called Kommerell Diverticula, a diverticular outpouching, or bulging, at the origin of the right subclavian artery, with a left-sided aortic arch. This configuration of the blood vessels is a rare congenital anomaly occurring in only .03% of the population. In some cases, because of the proximity of the vessel to the trachea and the enlargement, or bulging of the vessel, esophageal or tracheal obstruction occurs making it difficult to breathe or swallow, as in Jamaica's case. Surgery is necessary to correct the condition because of the risk of rupture or dissection of the artery.

Jamaica will undergo two separate surgeries. The first is a bypass of the right subclavian artery to the right carotid using a synthetic tubing. In the second procedure, they will open up the aorta to gain access to the origin site of the bulging vessel, in order to remove the diseased vessel and repair the aorta.

We have taken it upon ourselves to initiate this Go-Fund-Me account to help raise funding for the extensive fees associated with Jamaica's out of state procedures, the expenses of spending two weeks in Cleveland with a family of five, and to help provide
services needed during the four months of recovery time as Jamaica will have very limited mobility.

We are extremely thankful for all of your thoughts and prayers for Jamaica and her family during this difficult time and any donation will be an added blessing for which they will be eternally grateful.
