Jakey Our Superhero

Jake ("Jakey") Duque's  journey began on October 10th , 2019.   Following a call from Jakey's teacher about worrisome, atypical behaviors, he was taken to the Joe DiMaggio Hospital by his parents.  In the blink of an eye, Jakey's parents, Karen and Orlando, were faced with test results they could have never expected from their otherwise healthy little boy .  This incredible family of 4  has had to face one of life's biggest challenges, receiving a cancer diagnosis.  Jakey, at the young age of 4,  has an aggressive tumor in his brain stem called "pontine glioma".  He is fighting like a little super hero and we are here to battle with him!

God's love has not failed the Duque Family and He has been at their side from day one.  Within 24 hours of admission, Jakey has been fortunate to have been granted treatment at St Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.  Jakey and his mom will be transferred for a minimum of 6-8 weeks where he will receive radiation treatment, followed by a clinical study.   Orlando and their 7 year old daughter, Lyla, will stay behind in Miami, holding down the fort, fighting Jakey's fight, behind the scenes. 

Family and friends have vowed not to let them travel this path unaccompanied.  We have promised to ease the burden as best we can.  But we recognize we cannot do it alone.  This page has been started to assist them in covering medical expenses, as well as the hardship they will endure as Karen takes a leave of absence from work to care for her baby boy, Jakey.  Let's help the Duque Family and support them through this journey in their life!
