Hi everyone!
Because we know so many of you love Jake Einwechter and are praying for him and asking for ways to help, we decided to set up this fund raiser for him. I’m sure Jacob would also love to read a note from you on here, so please do so if you can! This is also to tell you a bit more about what has happened to Jacob.
On Friday, March 16, Jake was in a major car accident in Richmond, VA that nearly took his life. We are so grateful that God has protected him from leaving us at this time. The man who struck Jake fled the scene and is at this time in jail awaiting his trial. Police estimate that the man who t-boned Jake was speeding at an estimated 80-90mph. Jake was the only passenger and he was struck on the driver’s side.
Immediately following the accident, doctors began surgery on Jake for five hours to stop internal bleeding. Jake spent nine days in the ICU. He has 25 broken bones that doctors know of including his femur, pelvis, c5 vertebrae, both ankles, both wrists, ribs, cheek bones, nose, and jaw. He suffered severe head trauma that caused bleeding on his brain in three places. His spinal cord detached from the left side of his pelvis. Doctors said he is a very tough guy.
Jake has had three major surgeries so far to repair his femur, pelvis, and spinal cord.
Many of you have great memories with Jake whether from your childhood, college, or work and know him to be a guy who loves to think deeply and live purposefully. I’m sure a lot of you have had a meaningful experience with him at some point.
We want Jake to be able to push through this traumatic experience without bills and other financial obligations weighing on his mind.
Jake is now awake but needs your prayers and financial support as he has many months of healing and physical therapy ahead of him. He would be so happy to know that you helped him in this. Any amount will help.
