Jaime's Abdominal Surgery

Jaime is the smartest, chillest, and one of the sweetest cats I've ever known.  He's about 2 and half years old and he along with his litter mate, Cercei, brightens even my worst days.  Everyone who meets Jaime likes him.  Everytime the vets see him, they always compliment him:

"He's a big, healthy kitty!"
"He's really cute!"
"He's very sweet!"
"He's so nice and well-tempered!"

Well, my awesome little baby has managed to ingest some sort of string or thread that has worked its way into his small intestine while being tethered to his tongue. When I took him in on Christmas day, they weren't quite sure what was causing his vomiting spell.  They put him on an anti-emetic, but he refused to eat, so I took him back in today (12/29), they took a closer look and saw the thread looped under his tongue.  X-rays determined that the thread has worked its way into his small intestine and they're bunched up.  So he's been in some discomfort and understandably will not eat because he knows that he'll just puke it back up.

They told me that we had two options.  One was surgery to remove the obstruction, which would cost 3000-4000...which is not doable for me at this time.  The other option would be to cut the string so that it's not tethered under his tongue and see if he passes the obstruction.  They spoke to some surgeons who gave a prognosis of between a 30%-50% chance that he will pass it.

I have to take him back Sunday for a follow up and more expensive x-rays.  I'll learn if surgery is the only way to save his life.  If it is, currently I would not be able to help him.
