Hey everyone,
As some of you know already, I have been dealing with severe and chronic gastro-intestinal issues related to various infections in the past two years. I was recently hospitalized again for seven days, after a diagnosis of Clostridium Difficile. This diagnosis was perplexing to my doctors at Cooley Dickinson Hospital near my home in Northampton, MA, because of the fact that this is the second time I have contracted this bacterial infection of the lower intestine, which is extremely rare.
My symptoms, such as intractable nausea and vomiting, severe pain, loss of appetite, low energy and weight loss, are disabling, have kept me from working for over two weeks, and my sick time at my job has run out. I am seeking funding to help bridge the gap between now and my first paycheck when I return to work, which, while it will be hopefully soon, remains largely influenced by my physical condition.
Any amount donated is greatly appreciated by me, as well as my partner Eliot, who has been able to continue work throughout most of my illness and is contributing as much as he can towards my recovery, but whose resources as graduate student and teaching associate are limited.
