Jacks Voice

Our gorgeous big boy is 8 years old today and I can hardly believe it. What better present can I give him than an opportunity to have his own voice.
Jacks been fortunate enough to get short sessions in school using a Tobii Eyegaze. It's much like a computer screen but is calibrated to recognise Jacks vision and eye movements. He uses it at school to choose musical instruments to play or to sing 'Old MacDonald had a farm'. It is amazing to see how accomplished he has become at using it in just a few sessions since October. He can choose which program he wants to play and navigate in and out of them just using his eyesight. With a lot more practice the Eyegaze can be used to allow Jack to communicate by using his eyes to select picture signifiers.
I feel very strongly about giving Jack this opportunity to have a voice. Therefore I've decided to spend this year fundraising to buy an Eyegaze. It costs a lot of money (£12k) so I'll be working very hard doing a variety it things from a race night and coffee mornings to a Kilomathon and the Edinburgh Half marathon to raise the money.
Join me in giving Jack a Voice.
