Jackie is sick and needs our help

I am starting a go fund me to ask for help for my little sister, Jackie Lankford Janey.  She was admitted to Roanoke Memorial last Saturday, September 29th, in serious condition diagnosed with sepsis. She has already had two surgeries, one to place a PEG feeding tube.  She currently only weighs 71 pounds and is at real risk of further illness due to malnutrition. She is expected to have at least two more surgeries and will need in home care after this hospitalization.  

To add to her worries, Jackie has now lost her job due to missed work and has no medical insurance. Since she has not been able to work, she has also not been able to keep up with her rent and is now facing eviction.  We are trying to fight these things but are facing an uphill battle with the red tape of state and federal requirements and her not being able to go to these offices herself. If nothing is done she and her children will be kicked out of her apartment by next Tuesday, October 16th, all while she is still a patient in the hospital. 

Jackie is a hard working, single mother of 2 school-aged children and just needs a little help to get through this. The night she was admitted to the hospital, she was actually on her way to work and was forced by family to go to the ER. I hate to think of what would have happened if she had gone to work instead. 

I am asking our friends and family for a little help. Anything will help to cover her daily living expenses and medical bills as they start to come in. If money is not an option and you live in the Roanoke area, we would be interested in donations of food or household goods as well. Even prayers would be wonderful. Truthfully, I would not put this out their if it wasn’t this bad. We have reached a critical point and I am desperate for help. Thank you for whatever you are able to do.
