Jackie's Blessings

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,

We all know Jackie to be tremendously busy, always on the go, and a servant to many.  So, you can imagine what I’m writing here is very difficult for her. She asks for little and gives so much. She is in need of a pretty significant surgery, which is going to take place in two weeks on September 12th.  Before I go into any more detail, her issue is not life threatening but it does need to be taken care of.  Out of respect for her privacy, there is no need to go into details about the surgery except for the following:

The surgery will put her in the hospital for 3–5 days and she will need about 12 weeks to recover.  During this time, she’ll be unable to work at all and will be convalescing at home.  As you can imagine, this is quite overwhelming for her. Not only does our Jackie not ever sit down, the loss of income will be very challenging for her and Juleah.

Juleah is a senior in high school and with that comes special expenses that don’t normally occur (or so I’m told). Jackie is eligible for short-term disability, so a portion of her rent will be covered—but that’s it—only a portion. There are still other out-of-pocket cash expenses that will need to be paid to Calvary to cover her insurance and medical/disability benefits as well as others everyday living expenses.

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a fixer, but I can’t fix this.  But what I can do is ask and trust that God can and will provide.  I have recently been meditating on the following scripture, 2 Kings 4:1-7, where the widow cried out to Elisha before she was about to lose everything. Elisha told her to gather jugs from everywhere she could. The oil flowed until the last jug was filled and the widow was able to pay all her debts and live off the rest.

What this scripture showed me is to ask God for what you need, go and ask your neighbors for empty jugs, and watch God pour out His goodness (oil) until they’re all full.

Friends, I’m asking you to prayerfully consider how you can help Jackie during the next few months. To cover her medical expenses along with their basic needs, we need to raise $20,000. There will be options to bring her meals, assist her with driving, etc—but what I’m asking for specifically is to fill the jugs.  It’s for the cash needed to pay these extraordinary bills and take care of our dear friend in her time of need.

I have set up a go fund me account at www.gofundme.com/jackie039s-blessings  for donations.

Thank you for your support.

Love,

Kim
