Let's face it. The  loss of a loved one is tough. The wake with which we are left to navigate is pretty choppy, at best, and often overwhelming. However, when an UNEXPECTED death presents itself, lives change quickly and drastically. Two paychecks become one, but the same financial obligations+ carry on. New bills are incurred associated
with our loved one's final days, i.e., ambulance/hospital costs, treatment, ancillary charges, etc., followed by
funeral costs  which result in an intense search to find ANY life insurance policy(ies).  To date, Steve had one small
policy provided by his work...we are pretty certain there are no others, but the search continues.

Besides their world crumbling, the one left behind is immediately faced with unrequested change. Like, the gut
wrenching reality of being alone. Little things, like morning notes and coffee cease. Sweet Steve left Jackie notes
almost every day - every one began with "Honey B(un)' and end with a hand-drawn heart with an "S" in it, with a PS - "Your coffee is ready".

Suddenly, those left find that all-things 'house' become their responsibility -  TAXES,  cars, maintenance/repair, gas,
animal care and food expenses instantly become theirs.  If you know Jackie, you probably know there are some on
this earth that still do not cook!  ;)  Often, as in this case, the spouse may be unaware of the financial burden(s) that
lay straight ahead. Steve protected Jackie from 'their' finances in the name of love.  He was such a romantic! Can
you imagine having suddenly lost your beloved without a chance of much needed conversation or guidance
required to successfully carry on'? That is where our Jackie finds herself. She is pretty much paralyzed at this point -  having no children and very little family left, she is realizing more each day that 'whatever' state their financial
situation is, she alone is now the responsible party.

Observations of this abrupt life change often include a 'change' of other's behavior change towards the one left
behind.  Don't let that be you!  RISE Knoxville and beyond!   WE ARE NEEDED.  Our Jackie is facing issues in
absorbing this sad event. She is facing issues like her new identity, being on an endless emotional roller coaster,
triggers that bring her to her knees and take her breath away. Tears. Depression.  The reality of being  UNprepared, yet responsible, as she waits to discover the details of unknown financial obligations she now knows lay ahead.

Our beloved and wonderful Steve Scarbrough lived his entire life making music, sharing his humor, sharing his
special laugh  and spreading joy with thousands - even over generations of families. He loved Jackie and his fur
babies and FISH unconditionally. He loved his friends - especially his musician friends.  He loved his church and
church family; selflessly giving and serving continuously until the moment he was called Home the morning of
September 12, 2018.  Steve loved his Pastor John Gill. Funny, he never knew whether to say John was his preacher or his friend! I think he settled with 'my friend and Pastor John'.  Steve not only cared for others through his music, he also cared by choosing employment as another way for him to provide his special touch - through healthcare for many and meeting each and every client's needs. Did you know that many of Steve and Jackie's performances were for free? True -  because Steve believed and showed, that  we must share our God-given  gifts and talents with our community.  We joke that he only needed a day notice...

The purpose of this GoFundMe account is to ask  YOU to consider and take this opportunity to share - with Steve's wife, Jackie Iverson Scarbrough of Knoxville TN as she struggles to find her 'new normal'.  ALL monies raised  will
assist Steve's forever 'sidekick and ever-loving wife' Jackie with funeral expenses and the unexpected bills and
expenses that WILL be coming in shortly.  We humbly thank you, friends and family.
