Cheboygan Library Ukulele Society

Cheboygan is a small, quiet community in Northern Michigan. As economic challenges increase in our rural area, so do opportunities for musical enrichment. As a librarian, I see a need to offer young and old musical experiences. As a musician, I have found the ukulele to be the ideal instrument to get people started playing and singing. That is why I am asking for donations to purchase 20 ukuleles for our patrons. When the library has obtained the ukuleles I will provide group instruction as part of regular library programming. Once patrons are "hooked" they will be able to check out the instruments for practice and enjoyment. By including novices and any interested musicians, the end goal is to facilitate the creation of the Cheboygan  Ukulele Society. I hope this group will spread the word on the power and joy of music.
