Help us Help Chance

Meet 'Chance' when I met her it was by chance at the North Central Animal Shelter while helping a friend adopt her first dog, she was being transported to be euthanized right then and there. I overheard the argument that she was able to live a perfectly high quality of life, but the issue of her taking up room for dogs more likely to be adopted and her risks of hurting herself in her cage.




Many shelters do the best they can to re-home the animals they are handed but because of her condition after just a few days her time was up. I asked some questions to see if I could help...
Turns out she isn't in any serious pain and can live a perfectly full and happy life.. She just needs special care.. Unfortuantly and Fortuantly she isn't entirely paralized in her back legs so the vet has explained she needs more than just a wheelchair, she needs someone to to get to the bottom of what it is that has caused her severe weakness in her back half .. This is great because their is still some chance she may one day be able to walk again, the tricky part is, it is a very expensive journey.
We have started the process in finding out how to get the best long term care for her. Next step is the neurologists next week for MRI scans and more to see if we are dealing with a slipped disc, or spinal damage how severe it is and then most likely spinal surgery and rehab.
As many of you know I was planning on adopting Chance, getting her a wheelchair, paying for all of her vet bills to be neutered and finding her a forever home. However after seeing a specialist we have been told that we have to go a different route. 
If she is kept in her current condition ( she doesnt seem to know her back legs dont work and gets herself around be dragging along at rapid speed ) she could at any given time further injure herself and be given only 48 hours to get into surgery or die. Knowing this surgery is up to 8 grand I would never put this responsibility onto someone else. 
I beleive like any animal Chance is worth whatever it takes to give her a loving and happy life. Further to this, I see Chance as an inspiration and true example of will power and strength.

As you may know Chance is the 4th rescue I have taken on board and I want to be able to continue to do it for as many dogs as I can, but I cant do it alone. 
Every dollar counts and Chance is so thankful to be able to celebrate a Christmas with a loving family instead of being in doggy heaven.
