Johnson Family House Fire

The Johnson family, Tom, Sarah, Caleb,Gracie, and Luke Live in Baldwin City, Ks. They lost their home and all of their belongings to a house fire, Monday evening, December 15th. This collection is to help this young family rebuild their lives. Donations to this family are recieved with humility and gratefulness. Tom and Sarah homeschool their children three days a week and they go to Mighty Oaks two days a week. The family volunteers for Living Waters Christian Canoe Ministry and Camp during the summer months. Tom is employeed at Children's Mercy Hospital and Sarah is a Bus driver for Baldwin School district. Following is a message I copied that Tom posted on Facebook two days after the fire. I wanted to give some insight to the spirit of the Johnson Family. Thank you, everyone, and God Bless you.

REGARDING THE FIRE (AN UPDATE):
I'd like to thank all of the people that have been praying for and helping my family and I through this loss of our home and our belongings. Help was pouring in well before the full realization of the loss completely sunk in, and it's just amazing that so many people were able to band together so quickly. I truly saw the power of God today.

To illustrate this, Sarah and I were at the police station giving a statement about the fire, when City Hall (which is right next to the station) called me and told me that there was a gentleman from north of Topeka that was helping a friend move today and had a bed, couch and some other odds and ends furniture that he would be happy to donate. I walked right out the door to meet him and the first thing he said was "it is just a blessing for me to be able to do this" and that "God had this planned out. The timing couldn't have been better if we set this up weeks ago on our own".

So I look over and he already had the couch loaded in his truck, tied down, ready to make the first trip. Remember, this is right as I walk out of the police station mere seconds after receiving the call. The guy even all but insisted to make two 15 minute trips down the road to get the stuff put into the storage pod that was donated and delivered to my wife's cousin's house. And of course right as we pull up, the pod is just being finished getting dropped in the driveway. Again... the timing couldn't have been better if we tried to plan it.

I just feel like I received a message from God through that encounter. We are completely uncertain of our future right now. We've lost pretty much everything but each other, which is obviously the most important thing to have survive. But in my moment of uncertainty and despair, the Lord Almighty stepped in and said "Look... here's a perfect stranger that I can use to help you, and I can do it in such a way that just seems to perfect. Nothing is bigger than I Am. Be calm, I've got this."

So I don't know what He has planned for us now, but I know all I can do is trust Him. I literally have almost nothing right now, but that is one of the few things I do have... trust.

I'd like to also thank my parents, Donnalee and Jim, Bob and Melinda, Ed and Theresa and all of their families that came to our aid Monday night with immediate needs. You guys are so awesome, and are a huge blessing to us right now. The way you sprung into action and organized so quickly is just amazing. Thank you.

Also, thank you to all of people doing things behind the scenes that I don't know all of the full details of right now. I hear a lot is in the works, but we can barely keep up with it all right now. At this point I just pray that whatever any of these people give cheerfully from their heart is returned tenfold at some point for them when they need it.
