Ivy Jackson Memorial Fund

As most of you know, Ivy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last October. After surgery and opting to decline chemotherapy, she began to recover some of her strength earlier this year. As of February, however, her condition began to deteriorate when doctors informed her that the cancer had metastasized to her liver and then, shortly thereafter, to her intestines. At that point, she made the decision to pursue chemotherapy. After three rounds, the doctors realized that there was no decline in the cancer; thus, choosing to stop chemotherapy. Early June, Ivy began to become jaundice, losing more weight, and energy. As of ten days ago, the doctors recommended Ivy to hospice. As of this evening, the hospice nurse has given the news we feared most, that Ivy will not be with us much longer.

But, none of that describes the person that she is or the legacy that she will leave. Ivy is one of the most generous people I have ever encountered; she would never leave a friend or stranger in need and would always opt to help out in anyway she possibly could. It brings her great joy to have the pleasure to cook for others while also using every excuse to throw some kind of shindig. Her favorite pastime is crafting, preferably with copious amounts of glitter. I'd say, taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary was her true gift in the arts. Ivy also had a sharp, illuminating style that was all her own; dressing to the nines for pretty much any occasion, but doing so with much penache and class. These many talents and her likeness she has passed down to her four children as well as numerous grandchildren. She is truly a light in the lives of many and has given deeply throughtout her time on this Earth.
