IVF baby fund Emma&Alex

Let me introduce myself; my name is Emma and for as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a mother. I have wanted to feel every living moment that mothers feel and to experience it growing inside me; to fall instantly in love with it, and when the baby is born to see all the perfections from my partner and I. However, this day never came; and in 2009 I was diagnosed with endometriosis. This is where bits of tissue similar to the lining of the uterus act like a barrier in the tubes and around the uterus meaning eggs or fluid cannot get through and get stuck. This means I suffer with severe pains in the lower back and front and around the bowel when urinating but more when menstruation takes place; causing pressure on my cervix.

Endometriosis cannot be cured but can be managed by pain relief and minor surgery (laparoscopy). To date, I have had two of these surgeries and after my last surgery I was told I had endometriotic cysts of 5cm removed; which is a cyst full of blood on my ovaries. After this was removed and I had recovered from the surgery we tried again. With a heavy heart as I write this, nothing happened and our only option now is IVF. Conceiving through IVF would be my best chance and opportunity to get pregnant, and it may help to manage this disease as being pregnant releases a hormone that helps suppress the symptoms of endometriosis.

Nurture Fertility provide a 3 cycle programme of £11,250 which entitles us to three attempts. If this does not work after three attempts we will receive 100% of the money back to try the three attempts again. This is a lot of money that Alex and I do not have as all our savings plus a loan was spent on a previous attempt, which we are still paying as we had to pay because Alex has a son from a previous relationship. The stress and heartache of that ordeal was difficult but as a couple we got through it together. We are asking for help for the simple reason we need help.
If for any reason we raise over our aimed total we are asking for, then we would like to donate the remaining money to ‘Sands for still births and neonatal deaths’, that provide support for anyone affected by the death of a baby. They work on improving bereavement care, also working to reduce baby death because this is close to our hearts and we feel very passionate about it.

No challenge is too small, no fundraising idea is too silly; you’ll see us doing everything we possibly can to raise money. I will post regular updates and you can follow our journey on Instagram and facebook and even follow our hashtags:
