Ivan Smith Tennis Champion Now Paralyzed

Please donate to Ivan's cause.

Ivan Smith returned home to San Diego after enduring 11 grueling surgeries and spending a year in hospital care. The good news is that he survived and his mental faculties are intact. Unfortunately, he is paralyzed from the chest down because of a complete spinal cord injury, has violent muscle spasms, and is in constant pain, all because of an uninsured, unlicensed driver with drugs in the car who failed to yield the right of way. Besides high medical costs, there are more difficulties than you can imagine, but two large expenditures will help his life medically, physically, and emotionally. Ivan needs a wheelchair that goes up and down to get more easily in and out of bed and also makes it easier to get into a vehicle. This wheelchair would enable him to stand up so he can get daily circulation to his entire body, keeping his blood pressure stable and his lungs expanding - both critical life functions. Currently, it is very difficult to get into a standard vehicle. A wheelchair-accessible van will allow Ivan to be transported more easily to any destination. Both of these needs will assist Ivan and the Smith family as they move forward to help this courageous young man live a full life. Your generosity is much appreciated.

We appreciate your assistance in helping The Smith family!
